What was the Han Dynastys goverment like?

Liu Bang kept the Qin policies strong Central Government, but lowered taxes which probably made a lot of people happier. In order to work for the government the citizens would have to pass a test they were required to take, much like the U.S. today. He also made punishments less harsh. One rule Liu had was, peasant men owed the government a month of labor per year on the emperors public projects. There were many types of  labor Liu Bang would put people to work at included, building roads and canals and irrigation projects. In my opinion I would rather live in the Han Dynasty than the Qin Dynasty.

  1. I agree that people would have been more happy with lower taxes. I must compliment you on all the research you did. It must be hard ot see what their lives were like back then
